Short Stays in Newark

The great benefit of offering short stays is the flexibility it offers. We have quoted for whole manner of different things including:

  • Two week quarantine for people flying into the UK.
  • Families having to move out of their house because their new build property is not completed yet.
  • Wedding groups, which sadly had to cancel!
  • Mothers wanting a weekend break for whatever reason!
  • Contractors on a job, ranging from a few days to several weeks.
  • Families visiting relatives.
  • Groups of anglers on a fishing trip.
  • A group who had to move out of a damaged property while it was repaired.

One of the main reasons we set up was the draw of Newark Showground and the weekend and short stay visitors that would attract. We were bitterly disappointed when it closed shortly after we opened but in spite of this, we have had a pretty good year, attracting a whole variety of guests staying in the area. Due to Covid we have had to turn guests away who were social travellers during lockdown, very frustrating to have to do this but we have to abide by whatever regulations apply at the time.

Covid has benefitted us to a certain extent, it has reduced the number of visitors to the area but the business people coming here are now looking for safe secure accommodation away from other people, which hotels simply cannot offer. When they have the whole house to themselves it also gives them freedom over meals, whether it be a quick takeaway or stocking up the fridge freezer with produce so they can cook for themselves. For workmen carrying tools in their vehicle, we have a long driveway with lockable gates for additional security.

We are now in the process of setting up additional properties, one is Ashford, Surrey and another in Grantham. This is a very exciting time for us at 1804, very hard work admittedly, but looking forward to hosting many more guests in the coming years.
